The HW 2017 Edition Knives are sold out–but be on the lookout for some in Fall 2018!
Hey y’all!
Just wanted to let you in on my first item of “Homemade Wanderlust Merch.” My friend Patrick with MTKnives.net said that several people have asked for a Homemade Wanderlust Knife, so we put our efforts together and he is running a Limited Edition Homemade Wanderlust version of his Genesis I Neck Knife. It’s like the one I carried during my PCT thru-hike except these will have the year (2017) and knife number on it. I’m not exactly sure how many we are going to have yet, but I know we will NOT exceed 100 knives this year.
I wore my Genesis everyday while hiking the PCT and will use it on the CDT, as well. I like the convenience of wearing a knife around my neck because I never have to search for it when I’m cutting cheese (no pun intended) and I like having it conveniently located for self-protection as well. It comes with a kydex sheath and paracord that you can adjust for a perfect fit around your neck. My knife with the sheath and paracord is about 2.4 ounces. Also, I should mention that Patrick prides himself in making “beyond razor sharp” knives, so consider yourself warned!
Genesis I Specs:
Steel: CTS-XHP Alloy carpenters’ steel
Hardness: 60 HRC
Finish: Stonewashed
AOL: 6.625
Cutting Edge: 2.625
Weight: 1.65 oz.
Sheath: Kydex
The Genesis I Homemade Wanderlust Edition will be $159.00 which includes shipping (within the US). I will accept payment through Facebook as there are no fees applied to those transactions. Knife numbers will be issued on a first come, first serve basis as I receive payment for the knife.
If you are interested in ordering one, please send an email to: homemadewanderlust@gmail.com with “Knife” in the subject line. If you are a patron, please message me through Patreon.
Be on the lookout for more HW Merchandise coming soon!
Happy Trails,
Dixie
Woo Hooo! The brand is launched! Good for you. I can’t afford one now, but I am sure you’ll sell out faster than Perk pickin’ up a Cheeto!
Hahahahaha, I literally laughed out loud!
And thank you! 🙂
Would like to see pictures of the knives sheath.
Hello Jessica Mills. I happen to see something you might enjoy and add to your income.
Check out this link and see if it suits you. There’s potential here I feel being that you are becoming a professional hiker/= Paid through Patreon qualifies you as such.
They made some really cool PCT Shirts you would love.

That’s so exciting, I’m so happy for you! I can’t afford one right now either. But I hope the sale go so well that it will become a permanent place in your merchandise! Good luck to you! Although I think you’re going to do just fine. 🙂
Jessica, so glad to see this knife! I’m gonna get one and I’m wondering how to get to your amazon link so you can get the credit for what I buy there. Can you send it to me please? lscookies@gmal.com
Hey Linda! I know I already answered this for you, but in case anyone else is in the comments looking for this it’s: http://www.dixieaz.com
Don’t know how to pay for the knife. Need a little help here
Really hope to get one of these ????????⚔️
I will buy one if i can get “dixie” etched in the back of the blade with an electric scribe…
Boo! I wish I had known you were going to do this! I bought a Genesis when I saw yours (and love it). I can’t afford to buy another!
I’m sorry! 🙁 I’m glad you like it though!
How did you keep your neck knife sharp on the trail?
I never had to sharpen it! I would send it back to Patrick with MTKnives to get it sharpened if I need to though.
My question went away about how you kept your blade in shape on the PCT?
I didn’t take any special precautions except to make sure I wasn’t using a rock as a cutting board haha. Otherwise I just carried it like normal around my neck. I did make sure to also clean it before putting it back in its sheath.
Hi Jessica(Dixie)
I just discovered your you tube video’s and am “hooked”. I started with 5 mistakes people make when hiking the AT and have been binging on them since. I had already planned on a thru hike of the AT in 2019 but want to learn as much as I can prior. Not real crazy about the idea of losing toenails…that everyone seems to refer to as fairly typical!
One quick question: How did you end up with the trail name “Dixie?” It’s perfect for you…but is there a story behind it?
Sincerest regards
Hey Michael!
Congrats on your upcoming journey. Hope the videos will be helpful 🙂
A group of guys I hiked around for a few days told me that they couldn’t remember my real name, but they referred to me as “Dixie” because I’m from Alabama. So, it just stuck 🙂
Beautiful blade.
Such a great looking knife. I had ordered one for my nephew who is an active fisherman and then he ordered one for a friend because he liked his so much. Thanks for sharing a great small business we can support.
Hi Dixie,
When are you gonna have the hanging knife available again?
Will there be a 2021 release?
